Senior Dogs for Seniors

Numerous studies show there are physical, emotional, and mental benefits of seniors owning a dog. Some of the health benefits of having a pet include: decreased blood pressure, decreased cholesterol and triglyceride levels, decreased feelings of loneliness and increased opportunities for socialization.

A companion pet can be perfect for many senior citizens. Walking a dog gives you an opportunity to get more exercise, explore your community, socialize with others at the dog park or on your walk.

Having a furry little friend around the house gives seniors a greater sense of purpose and helps them create a routine that brings structure to their day. Having a dog in your home you never feel lonely and provides so much love and companionship.

Of course, like any relationship it's about finding the perfect match. Rescue Me Dogs recognizes an energetic puppy might not be the right fit for some senior citizens but a mellow senior dog might be just the right companion.

Rescue Me Dogs will be rescuing senior dogs from the overpopulated shelter system in California and launching the program Senior Dogs for Seniors. Eligible seniors in Vancouver, BC will be able to adopt these dogs and have the support if unexpectable vet bills arise or any other support is needed to care for your dog from Rescue Me. It's about providing a loving home for a dog that may not be easily adopted and placing a dog with a very deserving and loving person. This program is funded by donations and is launching at the end of 2022.
